BUSAN,South Korea-July 27, 2013, marks the 60th anniversary of the signing the armistice that ended combat on the Korean peninsula. The armistice marked the beginning of a 60- year relationship between the Republic of Korea and US military, and set the stage for the ROK to grow into an economic powerhouse and major force in the region.
VFW Post 10216 Commander Ernie Lee led a group of VFW members and military personnel from Osan Air Base to Busan for the 60th anniversary of the Armistice of Korean War Monument wreath laying dedication ceremony at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery July 28. "It was an awesome day to be here and to take part of such a wonderful event," said Leslie A. Bassett, U.S. Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission. "The first time to have a battle monument in Korea for the all the Soldiers that came to Korea and sacrifice their lives, to build the strongest relationship we have today."
